Special Events
One of the highlights of the weekend is the Tin Filker Songwriting Contest. A theme is announced about a month before the convention, and participants are invited to create an original song inspired by that theme.
The contest is a fun and creative challenge, with entries ranging from humorous to heartfelt. Audience members are always welcome to attend and enjoy the performances.
Additional fan-favorite events, such as Fannish Jeopardy, bring a playful, interactive element to the Filk track. Suggestions for future categories are always welcome.
Songwriters
The Tin Filker Songwriting Contest theme for Archon 49 will be announced approximately one month before the convention.
Participants are encouraged to interpret the theme creatively. Songs may be set to original music or written to the tune of an existing song.
- Lyrics should be PG or cleaner
- Entries must be written after the theme is announced
- Each entry should include at least two verses and a chorus (or equivalent)
- The songwriter must be present at the performance
The contest is currently planned for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Clair Room at the DoubleTree Hotel.
Whether you are performing or just attending, it is a highlight of the Filk programming.
